Imphal, October 12 2008: Imphal East district police commandos and troops of Assam Rifles have apprehended a number of cadres of banned organisations from different places in the past 48 hours.

A statement issued by SP (IE) Th Radheshyam Singh informed that at about 3.20 am today a team of district police commandos arrested two KCP cadres namely Laishram Shanta Singh alias suraj (40) s/o (L) L Modhu Singh of Kakwa Pukhri Mapal and Hijam Bishworjit Singh (18) s/o (L) H Bihari Singh of Kongpal Ningthoubung Leikai, presently staying at a rented quarter in Singjamei kshetri Leikai from Top Moirang Kampu.

One 9 mm pistol marked as China Auto Pistol with four live rounds have been recovered from Shanta's possession, who is informed to have joined the KCP in 2002 through one S/S Commander Bimol.

The statement also informed that H Bishworjit joined the armed outfit in 2007 through S/S Cpl Boy.

Both are involved in extortion of money from the general public, shop keepers, businessmen, Govt officials etc, the SP added.

Later at about 6.30 am, a combined team of IE commandos and 32 Assam Rifles apprehended one UNLF cadre identified as Tourangbam Naopa alias Nongmailakpa alias David (29) s/o Nipamacha Singh of Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai from Khongman Mangjil crossing.

having joined the UNLF in October 2005 through one John and imparted basic military at Layang of Chandel district under MPA No 2025, Naopa was a member of UNLF's fighting group, the statement detailed.

A cadre of the KCP (MC) identified as Keisham Indrajit alias Tondon (25) s/o (L) K Kulla of Kongba Laishram Leikai was also arrested at around 11 am from Wangkhei Thambalkhong, added the SP.

Indrajit is informed to have disclosed of joining the outfit through one Dijo this year and was involved in extortion activities.

Two more KCP cadres were arrested by the Imphal East district commandos at around 9 am yesterday from Sangakpham bazar.

Identifying the duo as Laitonjam Manitomba alias Marjit Meitei (41) so (L) L Modhumangol Meitei of Heingang Mongjam Makha Leikai as Konthoujam Bisheshwor Meitei alias Tompok alias Somen (28) s/o K Ibomcha Meitei of Heingang Mongjam Mamang leikai, a police statement issued today conveyed that both joined the banned outfit in April 2002 through S/S commander Lamphel of the KCP.

They also reportedly revealed of being involved in extortion activities and motivation of young boys and girls from Heingang areas to join the KCP organisation.
