Imphal, June 12:
Responding to the news report published on June 8 in some sections of the media concerning a statement issued by one Lankhomba in the name of the KCP, the proscribed KYKL, PREPAK and UNLF have clarified that the three outfits do not recognise any KCP leader by the name of Lankhomba nor do they recognise 'finance secretary Lakpa'.
A joint statement signed by UNLF's Dy Secy Organisation N Ibochou, PREPAK Home Affairs Secretary NK Nganba and Secretary Publicity and Research Central Committee of the KYKL Lanngamba Mangang reminded that the KCP once marred by factionalism was brought together as a single entity under the joint initiative of KYKL, PREPAK and UNLF.
The unification of the KCP materialised after a series of meeting held from February to June last year between representatives of the three outfits and leaders of the fragmented KCP groups.
The understanding reached in the meetings to suspend all fund collection activities of the outfit until the KCP got united completely was also declared to the public by its adhoc committee.
As per the declaration, the KCP put a complete halt to its fund collection drive.
The re-unification process of the KCP was successfully completed with the appointment of Senggoi as president, Leibak Macha as VP, KK Nganba as GS and Poirei as information and publicity secretary during the party congress held at the end of 2006.Moreover a complete central committee of the outfit was also constituted by the congress.
The KCP congress was also participated by the representatives of KYKL, PREPAK and UNLF and they were witness to the unification process and also to the appointment of KCP functionaries.
As such the new functionaries of the unified KCP were duly recognised by the three parties.
However, vice-president Leibak Macha initiated moves to resume fund collection drive just a few months after the party congress against the collective understanding of the party.
When he was opposed by the three parties, Leibak Macha put up a demand of Rs 4 crores to the three parties for purchasing weapons.
The demand was rejected considering the feeble organisational structure within KCP at the time.
It was later learnt that the same amount was meant for utilization in Leibak Macha's own secret operations.
In the meantime, the KCP central committee members excepting Leibak Macha informed the KYKL, PREPAK and the UNLF that Leibak Macha had been plotting to eliminate other KCP leaders besides working against the revolutionary movement.
The three outfits were also informed that Leibak Macha had already helped 'enemy forces' murder two KCP cadres.
As the matter could not be dismissed lightly, the three parties helped KCP conduct a court martial against Leibak Macha and his cohorts.
During the court martial, Leibak Macha and his men were given opportunity to defend themselves.
However, when two KCP cadres who used to work in association with Leibak Macha gave statements about the anti-party and anti-revolutionary activities of Leibak Macha and his men, Leibak Macha accepted his guilt and accordingly he and his cohorts were awarded capital punishment.
The decision was also endorsed by the UNLF, PREPAK and the KYKL.
Declaring that the three parties would recognise only the KCP led by its central committee which was constituted by its own congress, the parties asserted that all matters pertaining to KCP should be solved within the party headed by its central committee.
Any activity in contravention of the collective decision of the central committee will be construed as not only against the KCP but also KYKL, PREPAK and UNLF and the liberation struggle, cautioned the three outfits.
As such, the two individuals masquerading as Lankhomba and Lakpa of KCP should disclose their true identities and surrender to the three outfits within 10 days.
They also sought cooperation of the public in exterminating such elements posing as KCP cadres.
