In remembrance of those cadres slain by security forces during the course of the ongoing armed movement waged by the PREPAK, the proscribed outfit will observe Black Day tomorrow, informed secretary in charge of PREPAK's department of publicity and Propaganda Aheiba Angom.
The PREPAK had been observing November 12 as Black Day for the past many years as it was on this day in 1978 party top leaders Gambhir, Dhiren and Kabikanta lost their lives when its transit camp at Kameng Ching (hills) was attacked by a combined force of CRPF and Manipur Police, recounted Aheiba.
Moreover, on November 12, 1985 the PREPAK lost another top leader in Loyataba alias Tullachandra in a daring attack carried out at the Kabowakching Sugar Mill then guarded by personnel of 7 Manipur rifles, mentioned the secretary in-charge who highlighted that these two particular incidents and loss of other Red Army cadres is being mourned by the PREPAK as Black Day.
Conveying that fitting tributes would be offered to the departed souls, Aheiba also urged the general public to join in the observance and lit candles at dusk.
He also appealed to all the people to refrain from organising or enjoying extravagant entertainment programmes on this day.
