Cabinet notes Sadar Hills issue, all means to be used to bring in goods

Imphal, August 10 2011: Ten days down the line and the SPF Cabinet has taken note of the Sadar Hills issue during a meeting held today.

Briefing newsmen today evening, SPF spokesman, N Biren said that the Cabinet discussed the situation arising out of the agitation launched to demand the upgradation of Sadar Hills to a full fledged district and took due note of it.

Stating that other issues related to the ongoing agitation came up for discussion during the meeting today, Biren said that to ensure uninterrupted supply and availability of essential commodities the Cabinet decided to adopt any means to bring in goods including via NH-53 .

Biren also allayed any apprehension over the stock of essential commodities maintaining that there is adequate stock of food grains with the Government.

Other than the Sadar Hills issue, the Cabinet also discussed the demand raised by the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO which include rectification of the pay anomalies.

Towards this end, a meeting has been convened tomorrow to see how the anomalies may be rectified he said and added that the anomalies are with respect to 57 posts in different departments.

For payment of arrears to pensioners, it has been decided that they would be paid twice in a year and the first instalment would be paid on September 1, 2001 while the second instalment would be released on December 1, 2011 .

The Cabinet also gave the green signal to the recruitment of 43 female health workers and ANM in the Family Welfare Department.

The Centre will bear the expenses for the recruitment of the health workers and ANM, added Biren.

The spokesman further said that 12 Grade IV employees would be recruited in the same department.

Other than this, the Cabinet also approved the State Litigation Policy as well as the Indian Stamps (Manipur Amendment) Bill.

FECTAM : Though a group of representatives of Federation of College Tea-chers' Association, Ma- nipur reportedly signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Govt over the demands raised by the teachers today afternoon, a statement issued by the convenor of FECTAM, M Lokendra Singh said that the cease work strike will continue until and unless the Government comes out with a formal order to implement the demands.
