New Delhi, January 09:
The Hmar People's Convention (Democratic) in its press release on January 6, 2007 said that it is open to peace initiatives only if the Mizoram government involves the Centre government for a tri-party talk.
The HPC(D), reiterates that, in pursuit of the political aspirations of the Hmar people, it will not enter into any kind of dialogue with the Mizoram government alone.
"To negotiate the unfinished agenda of the 1994 accord that was signed between the Government of Mizoram and Hmar People's Convention, the HPC(D) will ascertain that the Centre becomes a third party in the peace process, without which any attempt towards securing permanent solution would be in vain," it said in the press release signed by Lalbeisei Hmar, Secretary Incharge of Info & Pub.
It also said that, it will no longer tolerate the juggle of the Government of Mizoram in the name of peace, as was with the 1994 peace accord.
HPC-D is an offshoot of the Hmar People's Convention (HPC) which signed a Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) with the Government of Mizoram on July 27, 1994.However, dissatisfied with the peace accord signed and its implementation, the HPC-D was formed in 1995.
