Imphal, December 02 2010:
The IOC has given its consent to hold tender for selection of transport contractors at Imphal for ferrying petroleum products till Imphal.
An official source at the IOC depot, Imphal, informed that earlier tender processes for selection of transport contractors were conducted at Digboi, Assam.
The proposal to hold tender process at Imphal was raised as almost all the bidders who joined the bid at Digboi were based at Imphal though it was an open tender.
The proposal to hold tender process at Imphal has been accepted by the General Manager of IOC.
On the other hand, with improvement in the existing stock of fuel and petroleum products, the daily allotment of seven oil-tankers to retail outlets has been increased to 14 oil-tankers.
Meanwhile, in line with the discussion held between top officials of the IOC and State Government officials led by the Chief Minister last month at Imphal, oil-tankers with capacity of 20 Kilolitres have started leaving Imphal to ferry fuel a couple of days back, conveyed the source.
Information received from transporters said that at least five oil-tankers of 20 Kls capacity have been leaving Imphal for oil refineries for transportation of fuel oils to Imphal on a daily basis.
However, as these oil-tankers of 20 Kls capacity are not given security escorts, they have been following convoys guarded by security escorts a little distance behind.
