Imphal, Aug 02: Students of Government Polytechnic at Takyelpat who have been agitating for the last few days in pursuance of their various demands set on fire the effigies of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Education Minister L Nandakumar and College Principal Rajchandra inside the college campus today.

The agitating students have also shut down the administrative block of the college indefinitely from today.

The students of the college have been launching various agitation including sit in-protest etc in pursuance of their demands which include a regular controller of Technical Education, introduction of semester system, observance of academic calendar, compulsory external tour, appointment of required teachers, publication of college bulletin, fencing of the college campus, providing internet facilities, etc.
