Imphal, July 02: The two underground activists killed by the Thoubal District Commandos during an encounter at Uyan Khunou Yerum Ching under Yairipok PS yesterday afternoon have been identified as PLA cadres.

They are Moirangthem Tombi alias Surjit (24) of Bamon Kampu Maning Leikai and Maisnam Khambaton alias Lanjeng alias Lanchingba alias Something (25) of Kadamtala, Jiribam.

Both the bodies have been handed over to their respective family members after post-mortem at RIMS.

The two suspected underground activists who were reportedly killed by a combined force of Imphal West Commandos and personnel of 32 Assam Rifles during an operation at Langol Games Village have also been identified as HAS Rungpam (22) s/o HAS Paul and Mawon Yarmi (21) s/o Maiphuk of Chingjai in Ukhrul district.

However, the bodies are still laying at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital awaiting post-mortem.
