Imphal, Aug 01: Setting August 5 as the deadline for the Government to resolve the ongoing cease work strike of the Aided College teachers so that students of aided colleges may study in peace, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) and Manipur Aided College Students' Union have announced that they will close down all the Govt Depts if the matter is not resolved by then.

Talking to mediapersons at MSF office this afternoon, representatives of the two student bodies said the indifferent attitude of the Government towards resolving the ongoing cease work strike of the aided college teachers is really unfortunate.

This has only confirmed that the Government does not care about the plight of the students studying in the aided colleges, they alleged.

Departments related to essential services would be exempted from the purview of the agitation to be launched, however, collection of taxes would not be allowed, they said.

Aided college teachers have been on cease work strike since June 21 demanding implementation of the numerous Memorandum of Understandings that have been signed in the past.

Despite having launched pen down strike, sit-in-protest and relay hunger strike by the teachers, the Government has not yet given any positive response thereby compelling the teachers to go on cease work strike since June 21, the aggrieved student representatives said, adding that the students studying in the aided colleges have not been able to study in peace since then.

If the Govt does not resolve the matter by August 5, MSF and All Manipur Aided College Students' Union will close down all the Govt Departments from that day, they announced.
