Though the bodies of the three security escorts (MR personnel) of MLA BD Behring who were killed when personnel of 8 Manipur Rifles opened fire among themselves at the Minuthong residence of the MLA located near the Commando complex last night have been taken away by their respective families today, a departmental inquiry into the incident has not yet been initiated.
The identities of slain MR personnel whose bodies have been taken away after post-mortem conducted at RIMS today are Havildar Khagenbam Momon (55) of Uripok Khaidem Leikai, Rifleman Muna Vaiphei (38) of Nishel Veng, Churachandpur and Rifleman Paominthang of Mata village, Churchandpur.
According to a top official of the Police Department, a departmental inquiry into the last night's incident of firing among the MR personnel which left three of the personnel death has not yet been initiated nor necessary action taken up so far.
However, it is learnt that Imphal West District Police have already registered a case in connection with the incident.
On the other hand, the body of one of the four PLA activities killed during shoot out with personnel of 21 Para Regiment at Khoibu Khullen under Tengnoupal PS in the morning of March 11 has also be taken away by his family members by after post mortem conducted at RIMS today.
The identity of the slain PLA man whose body has been taken away by the family members is identified as Soram Bijoy (23) s/o Ibopishak of Kiyamgei Mamang Leikai.
He is reported to have left home and joined the outfit some six years back.
The bodies of Huidrom Orient alias Lakpa (24) of Wangoo Panjao Makhong, Thoudam Hemchandra alias Bikram (23) of Cachar and Kshetrimayum Surendra alias Thouna (26) of Lakhinagar, Cachar are still lying at the mortuary of RIMS.
