Churachandpur town slowly limped back to normal life today, three days after the killing of State IGP T Thangthuam and his escort commander both natives of the district with commercial dealers beginning their activities.
Hours after the reports of the ambush launched at Oinam bazaar in Bishnupur district on Saturday morning spread some residents of the town erupted in anger against the killing.
Besides damaging 6/7 passenger buses, they also set ablaze one motorcycle at the town.
Three persons were also severely bashed up by them.
The District Magistrate had to immediately impose prohibitory orders under CrPC at the town area to avoid any unwanted incidents.
A large number of state police commandos, two companies of BSF and one company of CRPF besides women policemen have been pressed into service at certain sensitive points of the district headquarters.
Police sources said various shops were opened for the day and people came out to the town to do their normal activities though the prohibitory order is still in force.
