Four suspected cadres of the PLA were killed by a combined team of Bishnupur police commandos and 7 Assam Rifles personnel today in an encounter at Sandankhong under Bishnupur police station.
The combined team was led by the SP of Bishnupur police.
According to reports received from the police, the combined rushed to Sandankhong side on receiving inputs about the presence of militants at the area.
As the security force personnel reached the spot the militants who were coming in a Tata Sumo opened fire at them.
The combined security force also returned fire and a gun fight ensued for about 16 minutes, said police sources.
After the guns fell silent, four slain youths suspected to be PLA cadres were found lying by the side of the Tata Sumo.
Three AK 47 rifles, one lethod bomb, three magazines, 24 bullets and 6 bombs were recovered from the slain cadres.
The registration number of the Tata Sumo is given as MNOIK/4582.One Yamaha motor cycle which was found at the site has also been seized by the police.
The registration number of the motor cycle MNO5/7217 said police sources and added that the bodies of the slain militants have been deposited at RIMS morgue.
