Guwahati/Dimapur, May 09:
A fresh round of talk between the Indian Government and the NSCN (IM) began at New Delhi today.
Leaders of the NSCN (IM) led by Thuingaleng Muivah are expected to hold talks with a team of Ministers and New Delhis chief peace negotiator K Padmanabhaiah to discuss demands by the rebels for integrating all Naga tribal inhabited areas in the North East.
Issues pertaining to integration of Naga inhabited areas in the North East will come up for discussion at the meeting and we hope the Indian Government concedes to our genuine demands, a senior NSCN-IM leader said.
NSCN-IM spokesperson Kraibo Chawang said, It is not easy to solve decades of problems in just a few sittings.
We need to be patient.
The talks so far are moving in the right track and we hope something positive would emerge soon.
Meanwhile Muivah is scheduled to touch down at Dimapur tomorrow prior to leaving for abroad.
He will arrive by an Indian Airlines flight at 12 noon and straightway head for NSCN (IM)s Central Headquarter, Hebron, where he will brief the local media.
Muivah is presently in Delhi holding talks with a ministerial delegation of the Government of India.
The talks are aimed at finding a solution to the decades old Naga political problem.
Highly placed sources from the NSCN-IM told the Network this evening that Muivah would stay in Nagaland for about a week during which he would brief Naga NGOs, Church and mass-based civil societies on the progress of the talks.
The sources said the present talks were being held in Delhi as endorsed by the Naga people during the 4th Naga Consultative Meet held in Hebron last year and therefore, Muivah thought he should brief the NGOs, Church and mass-based civil societies about the progress made in the talks and also discuss other difficulties and problems before be left for abroad.
It was learnt that the NSCN (IM) made adequate security arrangements in view of the NSCN (IM) General Secretarys visit.
It may be recalled Muivah along with NSCN (IM) Chairman Isak Chishi Swu had arrived in India late last year on the invitation of Prime Minister Dr Monmohan Singh.
