A 19-year old youth identified as Sawan Ghimire of Moreh Ward No V, Nepali Basti whose whereabouts has not been known after he was allegedly picked up by unidentified persons on August 21 was found shot dead near the bank of Touwetsong river, 5 kms north west of Moreh Police Station this morning.
There were two fatal bullets marks on the right side of his lower chin besides cut wounds all over his waist, probably made by a knife.
According to information received by the press, Sawan was rendering his service not only as a water porter for the Assam Rifles posted at Moreh but also supplying ration for the security personnel.
The body has been handed over to family members after post-mortem at Lilong PHC.
It may be mentioned that Kha-Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup, Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup, Women Development Society and Gurkha Samiti Seva Samaj launched a sit-in-protest demonstration for the safe release of Sawan Ghimere yesterday.
KCP claims: The proscribed KCP has claimed the responsibility of abducting and killing of Taliban (20) of Moreh Nepali Basti.
Taliban was abducted from Moreh Nepali Basti on August 21 and was awarded capital punishment for being an informer who revealed the secrets of the outfit to the Indian security forces, publicity and propaganda secretary of the outfit said in a statement today.
Taliban worked in connivance with one Rafi from Yairipok who is a havildar of the 37 Assam Rifles at Moreh.
He passed on all the information of the outfit and the movement of the cadres to Captain Arun, Rajendra and Thapa.
His main duty was to stay at Balu Hostel located near Moreh gate no 2 and identified the KCP cadres for which he was paid Rs 500 for every identification, the statement claimed.
