Imphal, September 15: Formally inaugurating opening of Department of Dance in the Manipur University today Vice Chancellor Prof N Bijoy Singh exuded confidence of the new department able to boost subject enthusiast as well as provide a platform for further excellence in the field.

Culture and physical education being two important area in which there are plenty of talents in Manipur, opening of such new Department is a step forward towards meeting requirements of the academically trained cultural experts of the State, said the VC in his address as chief guest.

He also conveyed of adding Department of Physical Education in the university curriculum soon.

Prof Bijoy further stated that not only would the Department of Dance expand job opportunity of qualified and competent experts and scholars in and outside the country but also have enormous contribution in spreading cultural identity of Manipur.

While director of College Development Council as well as Department of Manipuri Dance Coordinator Prof N Lokendra in his welcome address elucidated on transforming the MU vision into reality.
