Imphal, November 29:
Member of the Central Working Committee, CPI(M), Nurul Huda has castigated the Congress led SPF Government for pathetically failing the aspiration of the people despite the huge mandate it received at the last elections.
Huda, who is currently in Imphal to attend the two-day 15th State conference of the party which concluded yesterday, told media persons at the Manipur Press Club here this afternoon that the performance of almost all apparatus of governance has hit rock bottom under the current regime.
The State conference which took place at the SAI Youth Centre, Khuman Lampak on November 27 and 28 is a prelude to the 19th CPI(M) Congress which is going to be held in Coimbatore at Tamil Nadu, in early part of April next year.
The former member of Parliament further denounced the law and order situation alleging that both State and Central security forces have failed in their duty of providing protection to the lives and livelihoods of the people.
The economy, for a long while, has been in a horrible shape, while communication problems have compounded due to the deplorable state of roadways and elusive railways services, he added.
Though the CPI (M) has a small base in Manipur, it will strive to find a voice necessary to uplift the condition of the people, he said.
Newly elected State secretary of the party Sarat Salam charged the Government policy to reduce the plan outlay on agriculture to 8.71 per cent in the current five year plan as a bizarre decision in the present circumstances.
He pointed out that the chief livelihood of 70 per cent of the State's population are agro based and the State's grain supply have an annual deficit of around 1.5 lakhs metric tonnes.
Accusing both State and Centre of lacking sincerity in solving insurgency, he emphasised the need to take concrete actions to bring them to the negotiating table instead of mere lip service during public functions.
