The Imphal-Mao section of the NH-39 has been cut off due to landslide at Maram near the 22 Assam Rifles camp due to heavy rainfall in the last few days.
In the landslide, about 80 meter of the stretch of the NH-39 has been pushed down.
It was around 7.30 am and it has cut off the road totally leaving many vehicles stranded on both sides of the stretch.
Among the stranded vehicles, it included loaded trucks heading towards Imphal and empty trucks heading towards Dimapur.
The part of the hilly portion including the road has been brought down in the landslide, an official report received here said adding that around 80 meter length portion of the highway has been pushed down.
Till late this evening, no BRTF or PWD workers reach the spot to repair the damage road.
At some portion, the road has been slide down around 100 meter deep.
Before the landslide occurred, around 108 loaded trucks from Dimapur side had crossed the area and headed for Imphal which is against the decision of the Transporters and Drivers' Council who has warned many times not to ply the NH-39.Around 38 empty had also crossed the area today, the report added.
