Churachandpur, December 28:
The Hmar Students Association while expressing its displeasure at what it called "secretive work order" released by NEEPCO to
build "temporary quarters" along Tuiroung river at Tipaimukh a few weeks ago, is in favour of evicting the company officials.
In an informal discussion HSA leaders agree to issue eviction order to the contractors and NEEPCO officials from Manipur and Mizoram until further notice, reliable source in the student body said.
The "sons of the soil" the Hmars, have not been consulted till date by
NEEPCO on how it planned to implement the hydro-project, claimed the source.
It may be mentioned that HSA, of late, has become restless at what it called "taking for granted" attitude of the enforcing agencies.
Meanwhile, the student body has convened a meeting with Hmar tribe's apex body "Hmar Inpui" on December 29, at Hmar Inpui's office, Rengkai Road, Churachandpur, to discuss their future course
of action.
Around 40 leaders from various organisation having stake in the proposed Tipaimukh dam will participate in this meet, according to the source.
