Atleast two persons have been killed while four others sustained injuries in two unrelated road mishaps that occurred at different parts of the State today morning.
The driver of a van died on the spot while four passengers sustained injuries after a head-on collision with a bus near Wangjing Khabakthong under Thoubal police station at around 7 am today.
The deceased driver has been identified as Lenkholun Khongsai (47) of Langol.
The registration number of the Van he was driving is MN01K/5301 and that of the bus MN01/0387.The bus was coming to Imphal from Heirok while the Van was heading towards Chandel when the accident took place.
The injured, admitted to RIMS Hospital, are identified as Dr Ningboi Haokip (32), her brother Mamang Haokip (25) of Palbung, Chandel; Hekhup Doungel (34) of Langol and Ngamkholen (26) of Langol.
The body of Lenkholun has been handed over to family members after postmortem at PHC, Lilong.
In the other accident, assistant of a passenger bus succumbed at RIMS Hospital where he was brought for treatment after falling down from the bus near PCTC Oil Pump here at around 8 am today.
The deceased has been identified as Wahengbam Shyam (28) of Wabagai Tera Pishak.
The body has been handed over to the bereaved family members after post-mortem at RIMS Hospital.
