In a bizarre incident, a man was stabbed to death by a neighbour late last night over silly argument.
The accused is absconding and the police have registered a case over the murder.
The accused has been identified as one N.Inaocha, an auto-rickshaw driver and he is in hiding along with his wife and a 3 year old son, according to the police.
The incident occurred at about 8.10 pm on Thursday evening at Mantripukri in Imphal.
Tilak Karti (30), a tea stall owner in Churchandpur came to his mother's rented room in Imphal to perform the dead anniversary rite of his father.
The source said that Tilak and his mother were lost in their conversation as they were meeting up after many months when the accused knocking at the door asking for Tilak.
As Tilak's mother tried to pacify by telling the accused person that it was just mother-son kind of conversation but the accused started abusing in faulty language.
Somehow, the neighbours settled the heated argument for sometime.
However, all of suddenly the alleged accused Inoacha came with a knife and stabbed Tilak unaware on his neck twice and in the stomach.
Tilak died on the way to the hospital last night.
The deceased is survived by his wife , 3 year old son and a 2 months old child.
