Lamka, September 21:
Taking its demand for allocating the centrally sponsored scheme NIT in the district, Churachandpur District Students' Union has submitted a representation to the three observers deputed by the central government.
In its representation presented to GL Dhambarkar, Dy Educational Director; S Mohan, Dy Secretary and BK Rai, Asst Finance Advisor, the student union recalled how their repeated appeal for allocating the institute to Churachandpur has fallen in deaf ears.
"The CDSU have submitted a representation (dated 26 May 2007) to the state government requesting to allocate NIT at Churachandpur to bring about egalitarian development in the state of Manipur.
And another representation dated 1st June 2007 in which two probable sites were proposed," it added.
With the hope that their request would be looked into, taking into cognizance the fact on how all central institute of repute such as RIMS, CAU, MU, NSA etc were confined only to the valley.
And that, Churachandpur being the second biggest town and the largest in the hill districts, deserves the reputed institute, pointed the CDSU representation enclosed with its earlier press statements
and representations.
