Imphal, May 21:
Disclosing that it has learnt of some individuals causing hindrance to transporters who arrived at Koirengei after enduring the brunt of the ongoing economic blockade and sub-standard condition of NH-39, the proscribed PREPAK has denied any connection with the individuals who are causing hindrances to the transporters.
A statement issued by the PREPAK Publicity and Propaganda in-charge, Aheiba asserted that the act was perpetrated by some anti-social elements with the ulterior motive to project revolutionary groups in the wrong light.
While disclosing that PREPAK has been making efforts to punish the anti-social elements after a thorough investigation, it appealed to the people to teach them a befitting lesson.
On the other hand, taking a dig at the habit of calling bandhs, strikes and blockades at the slightest pretext, the outfit observed that such agitation cause untold miseries to common people, particularly to daily wage earners rather than affecting the Government.
Moreover, bandhs, blockades and strikes called by the numerous organisations are not in the interest of the whole State or on issues concerning the whole State in most cases, noted Aheiba.
In this context, PREPAK cannot endorse or extend moral support to such agitation which only cause misery to common people.
Even though the effect of the ongoing economic blockade called by one student body is not yet felt by the people, the blockade is likely to produce severe impacts on the lives of people within a few days, Aheiba noted.
