Ukhrul, September 19:
Taking note of the wide-spread allegation that some candidates for Additional Anganwadi worker & Helper had given a hefty amount to ICDS officers the Ukhrul Students' Union (HKL) has demanded stern action against the erring officials.
In statement C.Masopam, V/President of the HKL and his executive councils said that apprehensive of misconduct in the recruitment process, a Memorandum was submitted to the Minister concerned through its chairman when he visited Ukhrul last month.
The memo also urged to give wide publicity while issuing the application forms for the said appointments.
However, the union alleged that contrary to the demand the department gave only four (4) days to fill the form with effect from Sep 7 to 10 which two (2) days that is September 8 happened to be a second Saturday and September 9 a Sunday.
The students body further charged that though it has asked the department to appoint the employee fairly and through a transparent process, the department resorted to foul means and effected the appointment without holding even the interview.
Sounding a stern warning, it said that HKL will take the matter to the highest Court of the country if required and added that it has evidences that a sum of Rs 5000/to 10000/were given respectively for the helper & worker through from an employee of ICDS.
The evidences can be produced anytime if asked.
Explaining why it has taken such a keen interest in the matter, the student leader said that since unemployment problem especially among the literate women is rampant,, it is important to address the issue so that the deserving candidates are selected without giving room to any corruption.
