Imphal, November 18:
Expressing strong reservation against the reported move of the State Government to recruit 86 new Hindi Graduate teachers even as the 146 DPC successful candidates are yet to be appointed on regular posts, the 1999 Hindi Graduate Teachers DPC Successful Candidates Co-ordinating Committee, Manipur has announced its decision of sur- rendering all the Hindi certificates to the Union HRD Ministry as a part of its agi-tationto press for long pending demand.
While talking to media persons on the sideline of a sit-in-protest demonstration at Keishampat Junction here today, Committee convenor RK Kheroda Singh categorically stated that no recruitment should be held until and unless regular posts have been given to the DPC successful 146 Hindi graduate teachers.
It is really unfortunate that the State Government has been denying the rights of the 146 Hindi Graduate teachers who have already cleared the DPC in 1999 for the last eight years, Kheroda said.
Apart from having sanctioned the posts by the Union Government during the 9th plan period, the Finance Department has also given post extension to the 146 Hindi graduate teachers in February 2007.So it is rather unnerving why the Government has been unwilling to concede to the demand of the aggrieved Hindi graduate teachers, he questioned.
While reminding that the Committee has been launching various agitation since December 2005, Kheroda informed that after four months of continuous agitation, a joint meeting attended by representatives of the Committee, AMSU, MSF, DESAM and Chief Minister, Education Minister and Education Commissioner was held on March 17, 2006 at the Chief Ministers Secretariat.
In the said meeting, the Chief Minister himself had endorsed the demand of the 146 Hindi Graduate teachers as genuine and instructed that the Education Commissioner to process the relevant file.
So in such a situation, the move being made by the State Government to recruit new Hindi teachers is unreasonable, he added.
Kheroda further maintained that the move being made by the Government would only create enmity between the new candidates and those who have been fighting for their right cause.
While demanding cancellation of the recent notification issued by the Secretary (Education) for recruiting new 46 Hindi Graduate teachers, the Committee has also warned of taking recourse to more intense agitation this time till its demand has been met.
The proposed agitation announced by the Committee include surrendering all the Hindi certificates to the Union Human Resource Development Ministry, to submit memorandum to the Union Minister concerned highlighting the indifferent attitude of the State Government toward the cause of popularising Hindi languages and mobilising National media in this connection.
