GOC assures Tamenglong people of help

Tamenglong, May 18 2010: A ray of hope for the people of Tamenglong arose here today at Tamenglong as GOC of 57 Mountain Division, Maj Gen DS Hooda and Cdr HQ 73 Mt Brigade, Brigadier GS Dhillon visited Tamenglong and held interaction with social leaders of Tamenglong at the office chamber of PS.

During their short interaction with the social leaders, GOC DS Hooda stressed the present law and situation concerning shortage of essential commodities in Tamenglong district.

He also stressed the need to take up necessary steps from government to transfer essential commodities from Nagaland even in rainy season where there was no bridge for vehicle to pass across the Barak River, where the people of Tamenglong are transporting essential commodities at presently.

Naga people are harassing its own people by announcing economic blockade on NH 39 and NH 53, said Major General DS Hooda.

However the social leaders asserted that the Naga peoples are demanding the state government but the Meira paibis recounted the Nagas by banning any essential from Imphal to Tamenglong and Jiribam to Tamenglong adding that in such situation the power of security force can be used.

Sumant Singh, IAS Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong brief the GOC DS Hooda regarding frequent total collapsed of the loan BSNL and acute shortage of money in the United Bank of India Tamenglong Branch for last three months.

Major General Hooda, VSM, GOC 57 Mt Div assured the gathering to look into the matter what the security forces can do it and talk to the concern higher authority.

The social leaders also brief about the suppression made by state government to the people of Tamenglong regarding legislative imposed in ADC act and its election, late remittance, no proper telecommunication and no electric supply.

The interaction was well attended by D Dikambui, former president Zeliangong Union (AMN), DP Panmei, former MLA and Minister, ID Chunlubou and Ramningle Pame representing the Zeliangrong Student Union Manipur.
