International Indian Classical Dance Festival (INDICLAP) 2010 has been kicked off at Mani Mandir of ISKCON Imphal here today.
The four-day festival is being organised by Ranganiketan, Manipuri cultural troupe of ISKCON, Imphal.
The opening function was graced by Chief Secretary DS Poonia, Bhakti Binod and Basu Ghosh as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
The international dance festival was opened with scintillating Nat Sankritan performance by a large number of artistes led by Guru Gulapi.
This was followed by the energetic Kabui dance by young children.
Jugalbandi, Kathakalli, Kathak by Diviya from France, Sutra dance of Malaysia and Manipuri classical dance items followed one after another keeping the audience spell-bound.
In between these captivating performances, Miss Guadaljara Mahima Sandoval of Spain was crowned with kajenglei by veteran Manipuri film actress Y Roma.
On the second day of the festival tomorrow, Sita from France would perform Bharat Natyam followed by an Indian classical dance number by Ramli Ibrahim from Malaysia.
Miss India Universe Ekta Choudhury would also attend the festival tomorrow as special guest.
The 4-day long festival would present Kathak, Kathakalli, Odissi, Bharat Natyam, Manipuri classical dance as well as Malaysian classical dance.
The festival will be closed at 4 pm of February 21.
