Imphal, May 17:
Despite the SPF Cabinet approving the upgradation of Sadar Hills and Jiribam to full fledged revenue districts, the ongoing process of the Delimitation Commission of India has been cited as a factor for the delay in the inauguration of the sub-divisions to full-fledged revenue districts.
Deliberating on the issue during question hour of the ongoing Assembly session, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh said there is no plan as yet to upgrade Sadar Hills to a full fledged revenue district.
responding to a poser on the contentious issue from Saikul AC MLA Doukhomang Khongsai, the Chief Minister said the Government has no plan or programme for inaugurating Sadar Hills as a revenue district.
While pointing to the ongoing delimitation exercises as a reason for stalling the elevation of Sadar Hills, O Ibobi nevertheless reminded members of the Assembly that the SPF Government had decided to upgrade the sub-division in solidarity and commitment with the people.
Likewise, the State Cabinet had also resolved to upgrade Jiribam sub-division to a full fledged revenue district, the CM maintained while asserting that upgradation of the two would be made at the opportune time as active consideration is on regarding the issue.
