A meeting of Transporters and Drivers' Council held today at the MG Avenue office of Manipur Truck Owners' Welfare Association has adopted various resolutions including legal action against the manager of IOC for allegedly causing acute scarcity of essential fuel in the State.
other resolutions upheld by the meeting concerns enquiry on report of retailers selling MS and HSD at Rs 44.15 and Rs 35.67 per litre respectively, intimation to Commissioner (Transport) on non-availability of essential fuel in the State, demand augmentation of supply of HSD within January 17, requisition of vehicle for the assembly polls through transport bodies concerned and release of the requisitioned vehicles at day-time after the poll is over.
Regarding demand for ensuring availability of HSD, the Council in a statement contended that a meeting would be held on January 18 to deliberate on possibility of launching 'indefinite chaka bandh' of all commercial vehicles in case the fuel scarcity scenario does not improve within the stipulated time-frame.
The Commissioner (Transport) would also be apprised for necessary action, the Council added.
