Imphal, December 12 2009: The Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) has been irked by the State Government's notification over the schedule the academic session of Manipur schools.

The SDSA submitted a memorandum yesterday to Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh showing its resentment over the State Government notification to delay the next academic session in the State.

The SDSA said it seriously views the recent impasse between the State Government and some organizations leading to the three-month long closure of educational institutions in the valley.

The impasse has consequently created fears among the students' community of Senapati district wasting the present academic year and thereby severely affecting their future careers, it said.

"The SDSA wishes to make it clear that the successful completion of the academic calendar of the students will not be compromised with any political conflicts relevant in the state.

And that, the right to education precedes any political motive of the State.

Here, the State Government is requested to urgently address the fate of thousands of students in Manipur who are at the threshold of losing their future," the Senapati students body urged.

It may be understood that the months long confrontations have deterred the smooth functioning of institutions in the valley but the hill districts particularly Senapati district educational system remained comparatively undisturbed and successfully completed the academic year as usual.

For which, there is no question of tolerating with any delay or losing the present academic of the students, said the SDSA.

"Therefore, the SDSA representing the plight and interest of students' community, demands before your competent authority to urgently initiate necessary procedure to prevent any problems or delay in successfully conducting the present academic examinations 2009.Failing which the SDSA will be compelled to initiate any form of agitation against the concerned authorities.

For which, the State Government should be directly responsible for any consequences of the said legitimate agitation," the SDSA memorandum stated.
