The commemorative event of Lamyanba Yawolloi NK Sanajaoba was observed today along with presentation of the Ist NK Sanajaoba Investigative Journalism Award, 2008 instituted in his name to Sapam Aruna of Naharolgee Thoudang.
Organised under the aegis of NK Sanajaoba Memorial Observation Committee, the observance function held at Kangla Hall was marked by offering floral tributes to the photograph of NK Sanajaoba and presentation of the award.

Instituted in the name of NK Sanajaoba, the award consisting of Rs 21,000 in cash, a memento, a shawl and a citation was conferred on the staff reporter of Manipuri daily Naharolgee Thoudang Sapam Aruna for her courageous reporting on the incidents of rape and atrocities committed by security personnel on Manipuri women living both in the hill and valley and the ordeals going through by such victims.
Sapam Aruna is the daughter of late Sapam Bidhu and Sapam Ongbi RK Sanahanbi of Soibam Leikai, Imphal.
Former organising president of the Manipur Cultural Integration Committee Prof Gangmumei Kamei and former Director of At and Culture, Government of Manipur Aheibam Birendra attended the function as chief guest and president respectively.
Among others who spoke at the occasion chief guest Prof Gangmumei Kamei appreciated the works done by NK Sanajaoba during his lifetime and appealed to the public to emulate him.
The chief guest also released a book titled 'Jiribam Jailda NK Sanajaoba', based on his unpublished.
Born on December 30, 1936, NK Sanajaoba has been hailed as one of the pioneering revolutionary who dedicated his life to the cause of his motherland.
He died on November 11, 1995 .
During his lifetime, NK Sanajaoba joined hands with late Arambam Samarendra and Nongmaithem Pahari in founding the United National Liberation Front on November 24, 1964.He also become the first editor of the monthly journal, Lamyanba.
Through his column Yukhal Marumda which he brought out regularly in the journal, Sanajaoba exposed the corrupt practices of the Government officials and politicians and their exploitation of the masses.
As a result, he has been named as the father of investigative journalism in the history of journalism in Manipur.
