Lamka, July 10:
Concerned over the alleged failure of releasing full quota of PDS-rice meant for Churachandpur 'due to demand of 33% in BPL and 21% in AAY, from a UG group' the Churachandpur District Students' Union has urged the Chief Minister to settle the matter before Friday.
A representation of the union alleged that the district quota of BPL and AAY rice has been withheld even after the necessary amount needed for its acquisition has been deposited.
'It is (also) learnt that the FCS officials were ready to divert this already deposited amount of rice to other district,' it added.
Calling on the Chief Minister to settle the matter within a specific date, the union said, impending famines in the hill districts has made the matter only more critical.
The negative interferences, be it from the state or non-state actor in realizing the district's full quota of rice is 'a threat to the very survival of the people of Churachandpur.' 'The people are fed up with the callous attitude of the state government in handling the aspiration of the people of this district' the union further proclaimed.
And if, the CM fails to look into the matter and take appropriate actions necessary to address or redress the problem by Friday, CDSU will be compelled to resort to any means of agitation it deems fit, says the apex student body.
