Imphal, December 08 2010:
Longmai Village Authority has threatened to call an indefinite blockade along National Highway 53 with effect from 6 pm of December 14, if the security personnel deployed by MPCC president Gaikhangam and Chairman of ADC Tamenglong Soihem Haomei were not withdrawn at once.
In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, the Village Authority pointed out that inspite of strong objection from the public, a large number of security personnel are being deployed by Gaikhangam and G Soihem Haomei in connection with inauguration of the Bazar Board Office and a community hall at Longmei and the security personnel have been harassing the public without any justification.
The public of Longmai have also repeatedly requested Gaikhangam to hand over former village authority chairman Lansingam who has misappropriated Rs 5,27,646 and 20 mandays of NREGS.
But instead of considering the demand, security personnel are being deployed to harass innocent public, the memorandum jointly signed by Village authority chairman G Joseph Gangmei and secretary Ading Gonmei said.
