Imphal, October 08 2025:
To form a popular Government, the BJP MLAs should stake claim to the Governor.
They don't need to travel to Delhi, Congress MLA Thokchom Lokeshwar has said.
By camping in Delhi, the MLAs are playing "drama".
If they are serious about forming a Government, then they should elect a leader and stake claim to the Governor here, Lokeshwar said.
The MLA made these statements at a conference, organised by the All Manipur Dalit Development Association at the Temporary Shelter Home at Sajiwa, Imphal East today.
The Governor is here.
The reason for the BJP MLAs camping in Delhi is unclear, Lokeshwar said.
Reiterating that the BJP MLAs visiting Delhi is not the right approach to form Government, Lokeshwar hinted that the MLAs camping in the capital have undermined the people of State and shown them in poor light.
"When the elected representatives behave as such, what would the leaders in Delhi think of the people here.
This is very unfortunate," Lokeshwar said.
Instead of camping in Delhi, if they are serious enough, then they may "force" their leaders to form a Government, he said.
Lokeshwar said the BJP MLAs may threaten to resign from their party.
"If they truly think of the people and want to form a Government, then they may threaten to resign from their party.
They must show some spine," he said.
Visiting Delhi and camping there while showing no courage at all to challenge or assert their demand is a futile effort, Lokeshwar added.
The Congress MLA also spoke about the conditions of the internally displaced persons living in relief camps and temporary houses.
He said the MLAs will understand the living conditions and grievances of the displaced persons when they spend at least a day at the relief camps and temporary houses.
He alleged that there have been huge misappropriations of funds meant for the IDPs .
The temporary houses should have sign boards showing the scheme and amount of funds sanctioned for constructing them for clarity and transparency, Lokeshwar opined.
No one should misappropriate funds meant for the displaced people.
Leaders should never play politics with the lives of the IDPs .
Sincere efforts must be made for IDPs to return to their original villages and homes, he said.
All Manipur Dalit Development Association's president, Dr TM Rajen Ayangba, the association's women wing leader, Th Ashakiran and many other members attended the event.
