With regard to the ongoing inquiry being conducted by the State Election Department on the appointment of seven persons in KVK Wangbal under the Agriculture Department after the election code of conduct came into force, the Chief Election Officer has asked the State Vigilance Department to investigate the matter and submit a report within a week.
A reliable source informed The Sangai Express that following a complaint submitted to the Election Commission regarding appointment of seven persons in violation of the election code of conduct, the inquiry being conducted by the Election Department was handed over to the Vigilance Department today.
Registering a suo moto case, the Vigilance Department has asked for official documents regarding the appointment of seven persons in the Agriculture Department after the election code of conduct had already come into force.
District Election Officer, Imphal East and RO Sawombung have also been informed that the case has been entrusted to the Vigilance, conveyed the source.
On the other hand, the Election Commission has demanded details of the case from the CEO.
No appointments can be made while the code of conduct is in force.
