Highlighting that Government alone cannot implement development work or fight disruptive elements, chief Minister okram ibobi Singh reiterated his call to the general public for sustained cooperation and participation in achieving the cherished goal of peace and prosperity.
inaugurating the newly built Urban Health Centre at Singjamei Chingamathak this morning the Chief Minister desired that members of the society do not deviate from their responsibility of churning out a brighter future.
He also renewed his call to all underground organisations to give up violence and facilitate political dialogue for a lasting solution to the insurgency problem as feeling of oneness among the people and development of the State would remain a distant dream in case the current mode of violent movement persists.
He also stated that road expansion programme along Singjamei stretch of the National Highway has become inevitable in view of the rapid population growth which consequently causes severe inconveniences to commuters.
apart from assuring adequate compensation at the earliest to owners whose buildings have to be dismantled for the road expansion plan, the CM informed that drain works on either side of the widened road would be completed before the onset of monsoon.
With the State Government able to steadily tide over the financial constraints there is more initiative towards implementation of welfare schemes along with development of the capital area upto a certain standard, maintained the Chief Minister who also stated that due to intervention by disruptive forces large companies are reluctant to invest in the State.
Relentless effort is being made to ensure availability of basic amenities like health, sanitation, education, augmentation of food stock and power supply, he asserted while ruling out that there is no room for discrimination in any section of development.
For early implementation of Loktak Downstream Project, upgradation of RIMS to the status of New Delhi's AIIMS and establishment of a sports academy in the State, Central leaders are being vigorously briefed, Ibobi contended.
Assuring that there would be no paucity of fund in smooth functioning of the Urban Health Centre, he also declared Government would endeavour to post one specialists each in gynaecology, medicine and paediatry at the health centre.
Participating at the functional president of the inaugural programme Health minister DK Korungthang appealed to all concerned for sincere dispensation of their entrusted responsibility.
Singjamei AC MLA I hemochandra graced the occasion as the guest of honour.
The UHC was upgraded from Singjamei Dispensary in 1998-99 with the construction work commencing from October 11, 1999 with funding under the PMGY and NLCPR programmes at Rs 114.43 lakhs.
There are altogether 25 rooms with present posting of three doctors and 21 support staffs.
In the initial stages operational areas would cover OPD, delivery and immunization requirements.
