More than 800 refugees, who had fled to Mizoram have insisted that they be provided stable security before they are made to return home, AK Sinha, Deputy Commissioner CCpur said today.
The Deputy Commissioner while interacting with this correspondent said that a five member official team led by himself, visited Thanlon and Tipaimukh sub-divisions on February 11 to assess the interior villagers and refugees in Mizoram as well.
Besides interacting with villagers and victims of torture, the officials met Sakawrdai SDO, Deputy Commissioner and SP of Aizawl, promising them to compensate their expenses.
The Government of Mizoram has so far spent around Rs 3.65 lakhs in instituting 55 camps and attending to the needs of morethan 121 families.
Officially there were 439 refugees in Sakawrdai, 152 in Vaitin and 173 at Khawpuar.
However, all refugees, by today will be stationed at Sakawrdai.
To a question, Sinha said that the situation is improving and claimed that food grains, the most essential item, will be despatched any moment.
"The villagers want the Army, more than foodgrains" he added, reflecting their insecurity.
