New Delhi, February 15:
In a bid to bring peace, the Centre has said it is ready to discuss "all issues" with the North-east insurgent outfit ULFA, which insists that sovereignty be on the dialogue agenda, Assamese littrateur Indira Goswami said here today.
Goswami, who has been acting as a mediator between ULFA and the Centre, handed over a letter from the outfit's chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa to National Security Advisor MK Narayanan last evening which stated the ULFA was willing to hold talks with the Centre provided "the core issue of sovereignty" is discussed.
"Narayanan told me that all issues will be discussed.
He said that sovereignty should not be the only issue on the agenda, but asked ULFA to put forward its other demands which will all be discussed," Goswami said.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had last year invited ULFA for talks provided it abjure violence.
However, ULFA commander-in-chief Paresh Barua had rejected the offer saying the Centre was putting "preconditions" and was not willing to discuss sovereignty.
Last week, Rajkhowa had written to Goswami, a Jnanpith awardee, about ULFAs new offer.
Goswami said she would inform the ULFA leaders about the response given by the Centre when they contact her.
