The first annual gathering of Manipur Cancer Society (MCS) was held yesterday at the Kwakeithel Makha Leikai residence of L Lokeshwore Singh.
Former Minister and president of MCS L Jayantakumar Singh; SDO Bishnupur District and treasurer of MCS N Ibobi Singh, Dr N Kameshwore (MBBS, MD, trained in Paediatric, TATA, Mumbai); chairman of Medical Committee, MCS Dr Pritam Singh were special guests of the function.
Expressing their opinions and sharing their ideas during the function, L Jayantakumar stressed on total eradication of Cancer from Manipur with collective efforts.
MCS secretary K Birendra Singh said the problem of Cancer should be just regarded as a medical issue, but also as psychological, social, economic and political issue.
N Ibobi Singh observed that unity is required to fight against the disease.
Dr N Kameshwore Singh emphasised on the need to spread awareness that cancer is curable among the masses.
Dr Pritam Singh was all for starting the awareness campaign on Cancer with greater stress on 'early diagnosis and management'.
Dr L Gojen Singh, while sharing his experience during his treatment at Mumbai, said a strong will is required to fight the disease.
The gathering concluded with the vote of thanks given by Medical social worker Mangi Singh.
Advocacy meeting: As part of the World AIDS Campaign, 2005, Service and Education for Welfare Action (SEWA) in collaboration with Sawombung Kabui Youth Club (SKYC), Sawombung Kabui Khunjao organised a oneday advocacy meeting at Sawombung Kabui Community hall yesterday.
Social worker K Sanahal, Khullakpa incharge of Sawombung Kabui village Ph Phoumeidun and L Adang graced the occasion as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
SEWA project director JK Laishram, Executive Director of MVHA N Saratchandra Singh and All Manipur NGOs Forum president Dr K Paochunbou were resource persons who spoke during the meeting.
