Unidentified gunmen shot dead a 34 year old man at his own residence located at Haokha Mamang Leikai under Thoubal police station at around midnight yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as Thounaojam Gojen s/o (L) Abungjao.
Gojen is said to be employed as an LDC at the Thoubal forest Office.
According to police source, Gojen was a former member of the underground outfit - PREPAK and suspected the killing to be in connection with the victim�s refusal to the summon to rejoin the party.
Gojen suffered bullet wounds at the neck area.
After completion of post mortem at Lilong PHC the body has been handed over to family members.
EE abducted: Unidentified persons are reported to have abducted an Executive Engineer of the Electricity Department attached at the Keishampat office at around 11 am today.
The EE named as one H Tomba of Singjamei Ngakraba Leirak was reportedly whisked away from his private residence by the unidentified men.
There is no formal complaint lodged to the police station concerned, said police source.
Meanwhile, Imphal West district police arrested three KCP activists from different places today.
The first arrest was made during cordon and search operations launched by a commando team of the district at Koirengei-Achanbigei area at around 2.30 am.
A 9 mm pistol with magazine and five rounds besides Rs 45,000 in cash was also recovered from the arrested person identified as Khuraijam Dayananda alias Tomba (35) s/o Kh Joykumar of Koirengei Achanbigei, informed a police statement.
The other KCP activists arrested today are named as Yambem Inaoyaima alias Chingooremba Singh (31) s/o Y Sanatomba of Sawombung Wairi Leikai and Yambem Hemanta Singh alias Maimu (28) s/o Y Sanatomba of Sawombung Wairi Maning Leikai, it added.
Both were picked up from the residences during search operation conducted in the locality at 3.15 pm based on reliable information, said the Imphal West SP�s statement adding recovery of a 9mm pistol and one magazine.
Man found dead: Imphal police personnel recovered a body from near the security check post of DM College of Science today and deposited the same at RIMS mortuary for identification and medical processes.
The deceased person is thinly built and suspected to be a tuberculosis patient as medical prescriptions and medicines found near the body refers to treatments at RIMS and Imphal East TB Hospital, said informed source.
The name listed in the treatment receipts describes the victim as Lagam Sahani (30) of Moreh.
