Imphal, September 15: The stage is set for the Great march observance to be organised by Lamlai Unit of Manipur Forward Youth Front (MAFYF) in association with various other local clubs and Meira Paibis Lup under the overall supervision of MAFYF, General Council at Lamlai Bazar on September 21.In a statement, secretary organisation MAFYF, General Council, Manipur Bickey Yambem informed that Lamlai branch president and ten other Meira Paibi leaders of Lamlai area would be graced the observance function as presidium members.

While president of AMSU Sinam Prakash, UPF president advocate Y Devadutta, MAFYF president Sapamcha Kangleipal, AMKIL president Sorojini, NIPCO vice president Y Nabachandra, UCM general secretary Khoirom Gourashyam, president of Thoubal District Women�s Welfare Organisation Koijam Ongbi Thasana Leima and president of All Manipur Women�s Development Samaj Taruni would also attend the function as special function.

To ensure the success of the Great March observance, Challou branch of MAFYF has been constituted during a meeting organised by MAFYF Lamlai Branch.

Besides electing Th Binod as convenor and W Sunil as co-convenor of the newly opened Challou unit, the meeting also decided to organise a social service camp to clean up Lamlai Bazar area on September 20.Moreover, the Leimakhongmapal Unit of MAFYF has also been opened and appointed Ranjit Meetei, S Deva and Itocha Meetei respectively as Unit president, secretary and finance secretary.

The Great March observance is being organised in commemoration of the September 21, 1948 incident in which a large number of people were subjected to police action at Pungdongbam while they were marching towards Imphal to take part in a public meeting to be addressed by Lamyanba Irabot at MDU hall here.
