Imphal, October 30 2008: Taking strong exception to the utter negligence of the Government about the pathetic condition of NH 39 and the plight of people despite repeated appeals and reminders, the Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) has decided to impose economic blockade on NH-39 with effect from midnight of November 1 .

A press release issued by SDSA while informing that the economic blockade will cover all goods carriers, sought support and cooperation of the public, particularly transporters.

It also asked them (goods transporters) to suspend transport service along NH 39 during the economic blockade.

The students' body also reminded of a similar blockade imposed on the same highway last November against the deplorable condition of NH 39 .

No negotiation or compromise will be entertained unless necessary works are initiated on NH 39 to the satisfaction of the general public, it said while NH 39 to the satisfaction of the general public, it said while informing that the blockade will be called off only after seeking public opinion on the matter.
