A PLA cadre was killed in retaliatory fire by AR troops today early morning at Kakching Khunou.
The deceased cadre is identified as Khingba of Kakching Khunou, said a press release issued by the PRO of Hqs IG AR (S).
The gun fight ensued when 21 AR troops approached a house and came across two PLA armed cadres in combat uniform in Kakching Khunou during a search operation.
On seeing the AR troops, one of the cadres opened fire to wards the AR troops who also retaliated.
One PLA cadre was hurt in the gun fight while the other was apprehended alive.
Even as the injured cadre was evacuated to hospital, he succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital, informed the AR PRO statement.
The apprehended cadre is identified as Leimapokpam Gautam (23) of Kakching Khunou.
At around 2:30 am today, one suspected UG cadre was gunned down at Kakching Khunou Lamabam Leikai, 4 kms South West of Waikhong police station by 21 AR posted at Kakching.
According to the report furnished by 21 AR at Kakching police station, one pistol of 9 mm calibre, a magazine with four live rounds and three empty cases were recovered from the slain youth.
Except for identifying the deceased as one Khingba, the report did not mention the surname, address, age or the names of his parents.
But it did mention that the youth was a cadre of RPF/PLA.
Moreover, the AR personnel also handed over two persons identified as White and Black to the Kakching PS.
The person identified as White was one Sarangthem Kumar (44) s/o Achouba and the man called Black was one Leimapokpam Gautam (23) s/o Bocha.
Both of them belonged to Kakching Khunou.
