Imphal, January 28 2010:
Cautioning the government to respond to their demands at the earliest, the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees' Organization (AMGEO) stated that they would ask other departments to join the cease work strike.
A silent mass rally protesting against the government will be organised on February 4, informed the JAC of AMGEO and AMTUC .
The JAC has been under cease work strike since January 16.The indefinite cease work strike was called following the failure from the government side to meet the demands by the deadline set by the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees' (AMGEO).
It is worth noting that the JAC had asked the state government to fulfill their 14 charters of demand including the implementation of 6th Pay Commission by January 15 .
According to a press statement signed by L Priyobarta, secretary of publicity and information of the JAC, other departments like electricity department, PHED, Public Works Department (PWD), Medical department ,medical staff, Directorate of Information and Public Relation reporters, cameramen have agreed to join the cease-work stike of the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO.
Meanwhile, the pensioners of the state have launched an indefinite hunger strike from Wednesday.
They are demanding 9 per cent of DR with effect from July 1 of 2009.The pensioners stated that they would continue with their agitation unless their demands are fulfilled by the government.
