GPRN cadre shot dead at Pallel

Imphal, Aug 25: An under secretary (finance) of GPRN was reportedly abducted and killed by unidentified gunmen at Pallel Maning Leikai about 7 kms north east of Kakching Police Station at around 9 am today.

The victim has been identified as D Ashing Lamkang (42) of Thamna Khullen.

He is said to be an under secretary in the finance department of GPRN.

According to reports received by the press, Ashing was heading for his Thamna Khullen village in an Alto car when two unidentified gunmen abducted him from near Pioneer English School, Pallel, at around 8.30 am.

His body was recovered from Pallel Maning Leikai round around 9 am.

However, the mobile phone, Rs 5000 in cash and some eatables which he had taken along with him were missing.

The post-mortem was conducted at Kakching police station and the body was later handed over to the family members.

Meanwhile, various organisations like Lamkang Naga National Council, Lamkang Naga Snulop, Lamkang Kurchiuano, Lamkang Kurchiuano Kunpun, Lamkang Students' Union, etc have strongly condemned the killing and demanded to know the identity of the killers and the reasons for the killing.
