Imphal, December 24:
Chief Minister O Ibobi today blew his top and called up PHED Minister TN Haokip on being quizzed by the media what steps are being taken up to ensure that the ongoing work for the Imphal Sewerage Project does not add to the traffic chaos in Imphal.
At first the Chief Minister said that the work is being done mainly during the nights to avoid traffic congestion, but when it was pointed out that no work could be seen being done in the night, he turned livid and immediately called up PHED Minister TN Haokip and inquired the reason why this was so.
After a brief telephonic talk, the CM asked TN Haokip to attend a meeting at 3 pm.
The talk with his Minister was at about 1 pm.
Again when the media asked the CM about police modernisation, the CM said that everything was fine and the process was on.
However after the scribes pointed that the telephones in most of the police stations do not work, the CM called up DGP Y Joykumar and instructed him to pay all the pending dues.
The same instruction was also conveyed to the Chief Secretary and a meeting was called at 2 pm.
On the detention of some civilians by the KNF (P) yesterday, the CM said that the matter will be highlighted to the Army top brass, since the KNF (P) has already signed the SoO.
