Most of the incidents of firing and hu rling bombs at the residences of MLAs are related to utilisation of the MLA Local Area Development Fund, observed Agriculture Minister N Loken while urging to let people check first whether these funds have gone into the pockets of MLAs.
Minister Loken was speaking as chief guest in a one day political convention organised by the Moirang Block Youth Congress Committee at Moirang INA hall.
Citing the case of fast developing Sikkim and Mizoram whose terrain is more hilly than Manipur, Loken claimed that Manipur can be fully developed within five years provided people cooperate sincerely.
Instead of criticising Govt, it will be more constructive to talk things over for development of the State.
For the numerous organisations engaged in pursuing only demands of all sorts, it will be proper for them to join the Congress and participate in development process.
In his address, MLA Manindra disclosed that Rs 12 lakhs have been withdrawn from his MLAD fund and works for Rs 3 lakhs under Gramin Yojana is nearing completion.
The Chief Minister has agreed to sanction Rs 3.5 crores from Central Road Fund to upgrade the Moirang-Sendra road to double lane.
Moreover, the Moirang market will also be developed at the cost of Rs 80 lakhs.
The Thamnapokpi-Moirang road will be developed at the cost Rs 50 lakhs.
Further plans are afoot to level the Chengei ground and to develop a regional water sports complex at Takmupat.
The convention was also participated by MLA T Mangibabu, ex-MLAs Radhakishore, S Bira and MPYCC general secy (admn) W Shyamjai.
