Imphal, August 24:
The United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) has welcomed three KNA cadres who have left their party and joined the UKLF bringing with them five weapons.
Briefing media persons, publicity secretary of the UKLF Th James Bond informed that two cadres of KNA Wing No III joined the UKLF on August 1 followed by another cadre belonging to Wing No V on August 21.The KNA cadres who have defected to UKLF are identified as Ngamilien Kipgen of Saikul, Thangjalet Haokip of New Somtal and Akhup Aimol of Aimol Sattu.
They also brought one M-16 rifle, six magazines, one G-3, 10 magazines, one SLR, five magazines, two lathode guns and 19 bombs.
The three KNA cadres deserted the party after learning of the failure of KNA to work for the 'nation' and realisation that it was an organisation based on clans.
Their move was hastened by the undiscipline of the party leaders, consumption of liquor and disrespectful attitude to women and their preference of UKLF which has been working for re-unification of the Kuki tribes, conveyed James Bond.
In fact, the KNA was never struggling for sovereignty but was working at the behest and interest of MLAs and MP.
In case of illness and casualties among its cadres, those belonging to the clan of the leaders were always treated better, quoted the publicity secretary.
Welcoming the three KNA deserters, James Bond said the UKLF is open to other cadres desirous of joining it.
He said that awards, maintenance money for family and individuals will be provided to any cadre joining UKLF.
