Asserting that the funds and material ear marked for the people of Senapati have been extorted by different underground outfits in tandem with some Government employees, the Naga People's Organisation has imposed a 24 hour bandh from midnight of July 26 till midnight of July 27.Listing their grievances, which has also been highlighted to the Chief Minister through a memorandum, NPO in a statement said that the KYKL demands "thirteen tankers of SK oil from one month's total allocation of 13 tankers of SK oil for Senapati district from the officials of the FCS Department.' NPO added, "Further the said outfit claims three tankers of SK oil from every consecutive monthly allocation for Senapati district.' Quoting reliable source, NPO said that PREPAK had lifted one tanker from the current allocation for Senapati district and added that the UKLF, an organisation based in Chandel imposed a share of 30 pc of SK oil from the total monthly allocation of 13 tankers meant for the district.
PREPAK also imposed a share of 21 pc of rice from FCS Senapati under the SGRY of DRDA.
To protest the mass scale extortion of the funds meant for Senapati, the 24 hour bandh is being called, said NPO.
The statement further said that kidnapping businessmen, contractors, entrepreneurs, officers for ransom by armed militants have taken a heavy toll.
The armed militants are involved in every contract works with the single agenda of earning more and more alleged, NPO and added that such activities have led to the deprivation and negligence of the hill people.
