Imphal, August 16: Tributes were paid to the 69 passengers who were killed in the aeroplane crash at Thangjing Hill on August 16, 1991 during a commemorative function held at Leimarol Art Centre, Chingamakha here today.

Offering floral tributes, observing two minutes silence and rendering devotional songs were the main highlight of the function held under the aegis of Thangjing Aircrash Memorial Committee, Chingmakha.

Revenue Minister Th Debendra Singh and MPCC president and MLA Gaikhangam graced the occasion as chief guest and functional president respectively.

FCS Minister Y Erabot, Education Minister L Jayentakumar, MLA Govindas Konthoujam and MLA Bijoy Koijam were also present at the occasion.

It may be recalled the then Congress heavyweight Irengbam Tompok and politician L Bira were among those who were killed in the aircrash.
