Imphal, April 15: Demanding the safe release of four officials of MANITRON whose whereabouts have not been known being abducted by unidentified persons on April 6, various social organisations and Meira Paibis today staged Wakat Meephams at different places.

The four MANITRON officials who have been abducted are identified as Th Saratchandra Singh, Th Santosh Luwang, K Bijoychandra Singh and L Debendra Singh.

Demanding their safe release on humanitarian ground as well as for the sake of the aggrieved families, Leimarol Apunba Lup (Chingamakha), Yaipha Thourang Nupi Khunai, Chingamakha Meira Paibi, Chingamakha Apunba Nupi Lamjing Lup, Chingamakha Kshetri Leikai Nupi Lamjing Lup, Singjamei Thongam Leikai Nupi Lup, Ningthoujam Leikai Women Welfare Association and Singjamei Thongam Leikai Nupi Lan Ningshing Lup jointly organised a Wakat Meepham at Singjamei Chingamakhong today.

The protest demonstration attended around 100 women was held from 10 am to 4 pm.

Placards with slogan demanding the release of the abducted MANITRON officials were used during the demonstration.

Similar protest demonstration was also staged at Yumnam Leikai Yumjao Lairembi ground under the joint aegis of Yumnam Leikai Meira Paibi and Thokchom Leikai Meira Paibis.

At Uripok Kamdevo Leirak Machin, the Wakat Meepham was jointly organised by the Meira Paibis of Uripok Yambem Leikai, Uripok Khumanthem Leikai, Uripok Achom Leikai, Uripok Bachaspati Maning Leikai and Uripok Ahanthem Maning Leikai in association with Uripok Imphal Western Club and Uripok Bachaspati Maning Leikai Development Association.

Talking to mediapersons, the protestors decried the alleged indifferent attitude of the Government despite four of its responsible officials have been abducted and their whereabouts not known for so long.

Meanwhile, Young Men's Development Association, Liwa Maibam Leikai Bokul Makhong and New Age Club, Singjamei Thongam Leikai, in separate press releases have also fervently appealed to all concerned for ensuring safe release of the four abducted MANITRON officials on humanitarian ground at the earliest possible.
